Bar stool Sid Outdoor
Powder coating of the metal frame ensures the strength and durability of the coating. The chair frame is powder-coated in a powder chamber, which provides additional protection against unfavourable weather conditions. Moisture-proof upholstery fabric and moisture-resistant impregnation of plywood in the seat base help to reduce the risk of corrosion, damping and contribute to a longer service life of the item in outdoor conditions. Rubber pads on the legs protect the floor from scratches.
The backrest provides the necessary support for the lumbar area and lumbo-thoracic region, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable seating position for a longer period of time.
In addition, the armrests of the Sid chair are equipped with soft ‘gloves’. This gives a feeling of warmth and cosiness on contact. The slightly curved armrest with a smooth slope along its entire length forms an ergonomic hollow, following the shape of the forearm in the natural position of the hand sitting on the chair. The Sid bar stool is very stable: the slightly forward-leaning front arm provides a comfortable footrest and balance when standing up. The rear one is positioned in such a way that it does not interfere with moving the chair when holding it from behind. Rubber pads on the legs protect the floor from scratches. Despite its lightness and compactness, the Sid chair is equally comfortable for people of different builds.
The Sid stool comes in three versions: standard, semi-bar and bar stool. All of them are available in outdoor versions.

Sid chair is an object inspired by one of the main characters of the famous animated film ‘Ice Age’ - a sloth named Sid. The image of the item was formed while working out the ergonomics of the chair. Drawing the shape of the armrest in relation to the backrest, Sergey Gravchikov paid attention to how much the image of the object resembles a familiar character. This is how the image was born and the idea to develop it and emphasise it was born.
The love of oppositions and contrasts is often seen in UNIKA items, and the Sid chair is no exception. The thin and graceful metal legs, which are often associated with coldness and impregnability, contrast with the soft and lush shape of the seat, adding warmth and cosiness to the image.
The interpretation of the character's personality and his external features is expressed in recognisable elements. The shape of the armrests transitioning into the backrest and tapering supports directly refers to the image of Sid, and the soft ‘gloves’ reinforce this impression, revealing a friendly and slightly naive disposition, inviting everyone to a cosy break from the daily hustle and bustle.
The Sid chair is the first UNIKA piece with a solid metal frame.
However, the first prototype of the Sid chair was made of wood, but this made it overloaded and did not allow the intended image to be realised. It was decided to experiment and apply new materials and technologies in the creation of this item. This is how we came up with the idea of using a metal frame, which in turn allowed us to achieve another goal we set for ourselves in the new year - to design furniture for outdoor spaces. This is why the new Sid outdoor was a logical continuation of the range of one of our brand's most popular items.
‘Why Sid?’ - is a question that our designers have heard many times during the production of the item. And the answer is quite simple.
The image of the chair was formed during the very first stage of development. We wanted to continue to create pieces that would be adaptable to different spaces in terms of size and functionality. While most of our furniture is more suited for interior use, the new piece had a different idea - its prototype, our hero, lives in the wild, so the chair had to continue this logic and be adaptable to the environment. During the sketches of the character familiar to many people became more and more recognisable. Thus, even before the object itself appeared, its name was already predetermined.
When developing the outdoor version, our designers made sure that the chair is a durable and long-lasting addition to your outdoor space. Careful rubber covers - more durable than felt and plastic - protect the floor of your terrace, veranda or pergola from scratches and other damage. Moisture-resistant compound treated plywood at the base of the seat protects the item from moisture penetration and prevents it from destroying it from the inside. Moisture-proof outdoor fabric provides comfort in caring for the object and allows it to remain less susceptible to unfavourable environmental impact.
Nevertheless, we do not recommend leaving the item exposed to direct sunlight and rain for long periods of time.
The Sid chair was conceived as a utilitarian object - simple, clean, ergonomic. Its similarity to the cartoon character has given it recognisable characteristics and unique features. Sid, just like the character, can be different depending on the finish: bright sunny fabric will make him playful and friendly, while restrained shades will emphasise strictness and collectedness.
